Life Got Real- The Story Behind FREESOL
Life gets real after high school.
Up until then, I was playing a part in a giant facade — a blurry fever dream I didn’t realize I was stuck in. Then in September 2020, during my senior year, I was violently ripped out of it. My dad was diagnosed with brain cancer.
And just like that… everything changed.
People say “life will never be the same again” — and it sounds cliché, until you feel it. Until you’ve stood face-to-face with the fragility of time and the reality that none of what used to matter actually does anymore. Grades, drama, the rush of daily nonsense — all irrelevant.
So… what does matter?
My answer? You follow what calls your SOL — your soul — and never look back.
Life has officially begun.
FreeSol is more than a blog. It’s a space I created to connect with those who are looking for guidance, a friend, inspiration, or mentorship. If you’re going through your own Dark Night of the Soul — feeling lost, alone, afraid, or unsure where to turn — this is for you.
I don’t claim to have all the answers. I’m not perfect. But I am committed to showing up — as your friend, your fitness partner, your spiritual hype woman, and someone who’s walked through the fire and found her way back to light.
Each week (and often daily), I’ll be sharing content to support your mind, body, and spirit:
💭 Simple soul realizations with deep impact
🌱 Nontoxic living advice and the practical swaps that helped clear my skin and my mind
🧘♀️ Fitness and wellness tools to help you move with intention and self-love
🚐 Soulful travel stories + vanlife reflections (starting July 28 — ahhh!)
🧘♂️ Daily meditation guides and practices to find your center
This is a platform for you to grow from any circumstance — whether you're navigating grief, self-doubt, burnout, or simply searching for more alignment.
I created this space to share my thoughts, healing, and tools — in hopes that it helps even one person see a glimmer of how beautiful life truly is. My intention is that you feel seen, supported, and empowered to step into who your inner being is calling you to be.
You are worthy. You are powerful. You are not alone.
We’re on this journey together — learning, healing, expanding. Let’s walk it side by side.
Peace and love,
Shannon Torpey
